Help:Rules

This page lists the rules that all users are required to follow while on this wiki.

  1. Moderators have the authority to enforce rules on the wiki, particularly in the absence of administrators. While moderators’ decisions are final, they are fully accountable for their actions when they exercise this authority, with actions reversed and reprimands put in place in cases of abuse of authority.
    • If you believe a moderator has abused their power, please inform either another moderator or an administrator.
  2. These rules function as intended; this means that even if a user doesn’t break the RAW (Rule As Written) it doesn’t mean they haven’t broken the RAI (Rule As Intended). These rules may be subject to interpretation, and if a moderator or administrator believes that a user has broken a RAI, that user will be treated as though they broke the relevant RAW.
  3. Major violations (e.g. submitting content to the wiki that is “illegal to display, distribute, or disseminate in the United Kingdom”) of the Miraheze Terms of Use will result in an immediate permanent block from editing the wiki. Minor violations (e.g. submitting copyrighted material) will result in a warning. Repeat minor violations will result in a temporary block, followed by a permanent block.
  4. Trying to bypass blocks though the use of alternate user accounts or IP addresses is not allowed, and will result in the alternate account/IP also being blocked.
  5. While NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content is generally banned, if justifiable reasons can be given as to why such content belongs on the wiki, it may be allowed, if the moderators and administrators agree.
  6. Vandalism (including spamming) is banned, and may result in warning, temporary block or permanent block, depending on the severity/circumstances.
  7. The spreading of extremist views (ironically or otherwise) is banned on the wiki, and may result in a warning, temporary block or permanent block, depending on the severity/circumstances.
  8. Abuse towards other users is forbidden, and will lead to a temporary block or permanent block, depending on the severity/circumstances.
  9. Submitting content from unofficial leaks is banned, and will result in removal of the specified content and a temporary block or permanent block, depending on the severity/circumstances.
  10. The purpose of the wiki is to document information about Hearts of Iron IV’s modding community. It is not for discussion of those mods, which includes criticism (constructive and non-constructive) of the mods and their teams. For more information on criticism of mods and the wiki, see Criticism of mods.
  11. Additionally, this wiki is not for discussion of present, historical, alt-historical or fantasy politics
  12. Any page that is about a living person (usually modders and people in mods who are still alive) must abide by the Biographies of Living People (BLP) policy. For more information, see Biographies of Living Persons.
  13. Edit warring (where two users repeatedly overwrite one another's content in whole or in part) is prohibited, and will result in the relevant parties being warned, temporarily blocked or permanently blocked, depending on the severity/circumstances.
  14. Machine-generated content is not permitted on this wiki. This includes content from mods (text and images). Users who are found to be adding machine-generated content will be warned and have their edits reverted/rewritten accordingly. Repeat violations of this rule will result in a permanent blocks.
  15. Some sections of the wiki/individual pages may have their own rules due to certain circumstances; those rules supersede the rules listed here and, in the specific sections/pages, have the same weight as the rules listed here.

Enforcement[edit source]

There are three levels of punishments: warnings, temporary blocks and permanent blocks. It is up to the discretion of moderators and administrators to decide which level to use, taking into account the severity of the situation, if those involved are repeat offenders, and any other relevant circumstances.
